In less than 36 hours, I will be in sunny Cali... I SO cannot wait to get on a plane, and get far far far away from here (no offence to my families - the real one and the Loo one)....

Random related thought: there's something so appealing about picking up and moving away and starting fresh all over again. Something cleansing... something exciting... I think it's just the little adventurous side of me.. hahaha .. i can't believe I just said that, considering I was the one so depressed when I left home for the first time for uni...

Time

In one week, I will have gone to California and come back.

In two weeks, I will regret all of my procrastination. I will be scraping the depths of my brain to try and come up with enough content to fill over 35 pages of term papers.

In three weeks, I will begin a torturous period of studying - studying for the last university finals I will be taking in the forseeable future, and then studying for the biggest and most important exam of my life.

In three months, it will all be over and I'll have to begin the "grown-up" part of my life.

Where does time go? It's such a sneaky thing. Some days it's crawling by as if nothing could possibly make it go faster. Some days it flies by faster than a blink and a wink before you can even realize that yet another day has slipped past. Some days I look at my future and see a great expanse of time yet to still live through. Some days I look at my future and all I can think is, "how will I have enough time to do everything?" There are so many more things that I want to do, places that I want to go, people that I want to meet, things that I want to learn and life that I want to experience. How am I going to fit all of that in - everything from the simplest of things to the wildest of adventures - and still do all of the responsible things in life (work hard at my job, save money for retirement, have a family, etc.)? Where is the balance? Because I'm not about to sacrifice on either...Yes, life is a treasure and everyday should be lived to its fullest. But life is also short, too short to be spent wasting time on doing stupid things.

Venting completed then, I guess I will continue on then as I always have been - taking it one day at a time, cherishing each moment as it comes, but living through it all with His purpose and His way as my goal.  Whether or not I get to do all the things that I want to do, I have been promised a full life. To that promise will I cling.

i'm always reading other ppl's blogs but i always forget to update my own.. hmmm... what's happened in a week? i went home for father's day weekend and spent time with my family...did some more hardcore shopping (i am seriously going to have to rein in this shopping habit)... spent some good times with various groups of friends all with good food... got to share a room with my sister and thankfully, world war 3 did not erupt.. we actually got along and had a good time.. maybe it's maturity? either that or maybe it's only because it was for a short period of time. I'm sure if we had to share a room for a long period of time, we'd be at each other's throats again...

Last night, some friends held a dinner party. I think it was my first like non-chinese fancy dinner party...and it was so good.. gourmet good! We started with a selection of h'or d'ouevres... there were gin and tonic jello cubes served on individual slices of lime...mango lettuce rice paper rolls dipped in lemon fish sauce.. and finally salmon mousse served on homemade potato chips... mmmmmm.... Then we were served gazpacho with a crab tower and homemade croutons (ask me in person if you don't know what i mean when i'm describing these delish delicacies). Then main course was served and we had salt crusted red snapper (the whole red snapper was baked under a mountain of coarse salt... SO good...) then there were polenta beans (i think that's what they're called) with tomatoes and cippoline onions..all served with a glass of white wine... i don't usually like beans and I love onions but these were great beans and these onions were better than any i've eaten in a long time... these onions were like bite-sized melt in your mouth onions!!! Then for dessert, all I can say is wow..... we had three mini desserts each.. a slice of chocolate souffle, a dark chocolate mousse and bailey's cheese cake... oh my.. i was so full after the appetizers but i couldn't leave anything on my plate! Then after a suitable resting period, we had our dessert cocktials.. they were like after eight martinis.. mmmm...

And of course, each dish was served gourmet style, where each dish was beautifully presented, described and served at the appropriate intervals with a good amount of resting time in between. And best of all, I got to bring home dessert leftovers! Those probably won't last long though.. knowing my roommates...

Feels like it's been ages since I've posted... but it's only been a week....a very busy, stressful and fun week though...Let's see.. what happened...Fi arrived Friday night (with presents too! Thx for the candy and the cream and the freezies!!!!!) just in time for a dinner at the plaza. After which, Mel, Jayne, Minnie, Fi and friends went to go karaoke. Saturday we woke up early to go to the Farmers' Market ... it was soooooo good... all kinds of cheeses and sausages and pepperettes and pies and bread and juice and fruit and oils and vinegars and fudge.......mmmmmmmm...... everyone bought something...For lunch, we gorged ourselves on our purchases. Then while CaptB and I returned to our studying, Mel and Fi played some DDR and read magazines for the afternoon. Later that day, after another great house-cooked dinner, I got to see what the whole deal with Summerfest was all about. We got there a little early (by like 2.5 hours) because someone who shall remain nameless got confused about the time on the ticket... so we killed some time by chatting for a bit before the dance floor got more filled.... Sunday started of course with church and then Fi and some of my housemates went shopping at the nearby mall.... then Fi went home and the house reverted back into full-on study mode...

Since then I've just been studying like mad for my corporate tax midterm. Trying to cram in definitions and "lessor of" calculations into my head, doing problems over and over.. sigh... glad it's over now though... now it's just the praying for part marks that begins. Studying for one midterm was nuts for me.. I have no idea how CaptB is surviving 2 midterms and a quiz this week!

On a happier note, it's Father's Day this weekend and I think I'm going to let myself go home this weekend and enjoy a day or two off...

Anyway, nothing much else is happening up here... just wanted to let you all back home know what happened on Fi's great adventure......gotta go catch up on all that work I missed while studying for my midterm now...

Normally.. out of all the types of weather you can possibly get.... I dislike rain the most... it gets all gray and muggy and damp and depressing... but right now....I'm lovin' the rain! Bye bye humidity!

It's sooooo humid... when you first step out of a building, it feels okay. You think "Oh it's not that bad. It's a pretty nice day.  The walk will be lovely today." Then you start on your walk home or your walk to class. And, as is consistent with every walk here in loo, as soon as you get about 10 minutes away from your departing point, your brow begins to sweat and your shirt begins to cling. And by the time you reach your destination, your face is beet red from the humidity, your feet have swollen from the long, hot walk and you're so sticky that you feel like you need a shower all over again... Only 3.75 months left to go.

Lessons of the Day/Night:

1. Appreciate your air conditioner.

2. If 1 is not possible currently, appreciate your fan.

3. Never ever try and sleep at night without your fan on when it's like 30 degrees Celsius. You are just asking for a sleepless night.

Yesterday the whole house made a deal - if we all hardcore-studied the whole morning and afternoon, then we would reward ourselves by going to watch Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban (not Alcatraz, Melly)...some worked harder than others but we all (except one) went to go and watch it anyway.  It was so good!!! We had all read the book and knew what was going to happen but yet we were still scared and full of suspense throughout the entire movie. (I want to ride Buckbeak!)  Just watching the movie and all of its plot twists and turns (and even remember those plot points  that didn't make it into the movie - e.g. Wasn't his patronus charm supposed to be in the shape of a horse?) made me really admire J.K. Rowling's mind and talent.  It really must be a gift to be able to come up with all of these different twists and turns....I can't wait to watch the next movies and read the last two novels of the series...

Anyway,  my study break's over and it's back to the books now, esp if ppl really are coming to visit next weekend...

P.S. I love my house family.

You'll NEVER Guess What I Did Today!

So this morning I had my first midterm of this term. Then for the rest of the afternoon, I participated in a tournament, a tournament that was organized for my program, for all of the students, the faculty and the administration.

What tournament did I participate in you ask? Well, I'll save you from the suspense. For four hours today from 1pm to 5pm, I played..... softball!!! Yup, I actually batted (I never struck out - not even once!), ran the bases (even scored a couple runs) and played infield (well, catcher to be exact ). It was fun, despite my team being the least winning team of the entire tournament. We prefer to think of ourselves as the self-esteem boosters. We boosted the self-esteem of every team that played us .

Anyway, that's it for now. Don't expect me to repeat my athletic prowess again anytime soon.

Decided to change up the format of my blog cuz I was getting tired of the old one. This one's very girly and pastel-ly in honour of both the beautiful spring weather we've been having and my cousin's impending nuptials. This new format also doesn't have as much problems as the old format where the layout changed depending on how large your window was or what your screen resolution was.

Anyway, let me know what you think... love it, hate it, can't see it ...whatever... just let me know what you think ...dunno how long I'll keep this one up though... the colour scheme is a little too girly to last long... if I'm lucky maybe a month.

Got two new writing utensils yesterday.  Both are by Papermate. The first is this liquid pencil... it's uses liquid graphite to write so there's no breaking of lead or constant pushing on the back of the pencil to advance the lead.  However, it doesn't erase quite as well as normal mechanical pencils.  Then I also got this medium ballpoint pen called the Pendulum.  "The Pendulum's innovative swivel-tip technology provides the ultimate ballpoint writing experience. The self-correcting curved tip pivots to consistently maintain a 90-degree angle to the paper no matter how the pen is held. Ballpoint pens perform at the highest level for the smoothest write when held at this angle."

It may be crazy or nerdish to be so happy about a pen/pencil purchase but it's finding the simple pleasures in life that keeps me sane.
